Affordable Housing Online is tracking the status of the City of Tempe Housing Housing Authority Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List. This is what we know as of our most recent update on August 12th, 2016.
The City of Tempe Housing Authority (CTHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list isopening soon, from September 1, 2016 at 12:00 pm, until September 15, 2016 at 12:00 pm MT. It was last open for one month from April 2015 until May 2015, and prior to that in April 2011.

Tempe, AZ is about 10 miles east of Phoenix, AZ.

Please note: 

  • Although Tempe, AZ is in the Mountain Time Zone, it does not participate in Daylight Savings Time, so the current time in that area is the same as the Pacific Time Zone, rather than the Mountain Time Zone.
  • This waiting list has preferences. This means that applicants who qualify for these preferences will receive assistance before applicants who do not. Because of these preferences, applicants who do not qualify may have a longer wait to receive assistance.
To apply during the opening period, complete the online application that will be available on the CTHA website. Computers, tablets and smart phones may be used to access the application. The application will be available in English and Spanish.

If an applicant does not have access to the Internet, they can use a friend or family member's computer/device, one at a local library, or one at the following locations (contact the facility for office hours):

Disabled applicants who require reasonable accommodation to complete the application must call the CTHA office at (480) 350-8950/TTY (800) 842-4681; or visit the office, located at 3500 S. Rural Road, Suite 202, Tempe, AZ 85282, from 7:00 am until 4:00 pm, Monday-Thursday, before September 1, 2016.

This waiting list has the following preferences: Involuntarily displaced by federal or local government action, homeless in the City of Tempe, reside in the City of Tempe, working or hired to work in City of Tempe, extremely low income households. Further explanation of each preference can be found on the public notice here.

Applicants will receive a confirmation number after submitting their application. It is important to print and keep this information in a safe, easy to access place.

Please note: The Hawaii Public Housing Authority Section 8 HCV program covers Honolulu County, HI.


The Hawaii Public Housing Authority (HPHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Project-Based Voucher and Non-Elderly Disabled waiting lists are currently open on a limited basis, from August 16, 2016 at 12:01 am, until August 18, 2016 at 11:59 pm HT.
Please note: 

  • According to the HPHA, "applications will be accepted from eligible applicants with the following preferences: 1) Homeless; 2) Victims of domestic violence; or 3) Involuntarily displaced."
  • This waiting list was scheduled to open some time in November 2015, but was pushed back to a later date.
To apply, complete the online pre-application here. The pre-application is available in 12 languages. Computers, tablets and mobile phones may be used to access the pre-application, but not all operating systems are supported.

Applicants who require reasonable accommodation to complete the application must contact the HPHA before August 18, 2016.

The following documentation is required when submitting the pre-application: Name, date of birth, Social Security Number, yearly gross income of all members of the household. 

Applicants will receive a confirmation number after submitting the pre-application. Keep this number in a safe, easy to access place.

Applicants will be placed on the waiting list by date and time the pre-application is received. Persons placed on the waiting list will receive notice if they were placed on the waiting list about 30 days after the waiting list closes.

The Tuscaloosa Housing Authority (THA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open, from August 15, 2016 at 8:00 am, until August 17, 2016 at 12:00 pm CT.

There are two ways to apply:

  1. Complete the online application here.
  2. Pick up an application at the Bethel Baptist Church, located at 3003 25th St., Tuscaloosa, AL 35401, from 8:00 am until 12:00 pm. 
Once the paper application has been completed, it must be mailed to the THA office, at 2117 Jack Warner Pkwy NE #2, Tuscaloosa, AL 35401 by August 26, 2016. Applications must be postmarked before August 26, 2016, or it will not be accepted. Hand delivered applications will not be accepted.

Copies of the following documents are required when submitting the application: Government issued photo ID, Social Security Number, income verification, birth certificate for all household members.

Please note: New York State Homes and Community Renewal (NYSHCR) manages 43 organizations that provide the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher program in the state of New York. A list of all organizations that operate on behalf of the NYHCR can be found here. Please view waiting list information for each office below. The Rural Ulster Preservation Company covers the Counties of Greene and Ulster, NY.

The Rural Ulster Preservation Company (RUPCO) Greene County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently open, from July 18, 2016 until August 31, 2016 at 4:30 pm ET. It was last open in November 2014, and prior to that in 2011.

Please note: Although this housing authority covers both Greene and Ulster County, NY, the public notice for this opening specifically states that the Greene County waiting list is open, and does not mention Ulster County. We have left a message with the RUPCO office to confirm if this opening is for Ulster County as well, and will update this page when more information becomes available.

To apply, download and print the application online. The application is available in English and Spanish.Once the application has been completed, it must be mailed or hand delivered to the RUPCO office, located at 408 Main Street, Catskill, NY 12414. Applications must be submitted by 4:30 pm on the closing date.


Applicants who require assistance filling out the application can visit the Catskill Community Center, located at 334 Main Street, Catskill, NY 12414 on July 25, 2016, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm; and on August 31, 2016, from 9:00 am until 3:00 pm.

500 applicants will be placed on the waiting list by random lottery.

Applicants must inform the RUPCO of any application updates in writing.

The Subsidy Services Bureau covers the Counties of Bronx, Kings, New York, Queens, Richmond, NY.

The Subsidy Services Bureau (SSB) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It is not known when the waiting list was last open, or when it will reopen.

As of April 2015, the SSB stated on its NYSHCR web page that there are currently many households on the waiting list and there are no plans to reopen this waiting list in the near future.

The Community Development Corporation of Long Island covers Suffolk County, NY and manages a separate waiting list for the Town of Smithtown Planning and Community Development Department.

The Community Development Corporation of Long Island (CDCLI) Suffolk County Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for nearly two weeks in November 2015, and prior to that in 2008. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

The Putnam County Housing Corporation (PCHC) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open in March 2015. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

The CVR New York (CVRNY) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open in September 2011. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Affordable Housing Online is tracking the status of the Hammond Housing Authority Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List. This is what we know as of our most recent update on August 5th, 2016.
The Hammond Housing Authority (HHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is opening soon, on August 31, 2016 at 9:00 am CT. This waiting list will be open indefinitely. It was last open in March 2014, and prior to that in 2011 and 2009.

Hammond, IN is about 25 miles south of Chicago, IL

Please note: 

  • This waiting list will close once 1,000 applications are submitted. This waiting list may close soon after it opens.
  • There are cases of applicants flooding the website as soon as a scheduled online waiting list opens, causing the website to crash for a period of time. If the website is down, it will eventually be back up to accept applications.

 Public Housing Waiting List Status : Open

Affordable Housing Online is tracking the status of the Hammond Housing Authority Public Housing Waiting Lists. This is what we know as of our most recent update May 22nd, 2015.
The Hammond Housing Authority (HHA) is currently accepting public housing waiting list applications for senior/disabled individuals.

Please Note: They are only accepting applications for studio apartments.

The HHA offers two public housing communities:
1. Turner Park is a family community ranging in size from 2 to 4 bedrooms.
2. Hubert Humphrey Hi-Rise is a 118 unit senior/disabled community, ranging in size from studios to 1 bedrooms.

To apply for public housing please visit the HHA office to pick up an application, located at 1402 173rd St., Hammond, IN, Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:00 am-11:00 am and 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm.

Once the application has been completed it can be hand delivered to the address listed above, between the hours of 8:00 am and 11:00am, and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
